Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $50,000 to Nova Scotia investigators at eligible academic institutions for high-quality respiratory health-related research. Funding is intended to prevent and manage lung disease. Funding may be used for equipment, operating expenses, and for employing research trainees, research assistants, and technicians. Salaries for grant employed staff should be in line with those used for employees in the Grantee’s institution.

Recipients of the LANS Legacy Research Fund grants must publish their findings, at a minimum, in an open access journal.

Term of Contract:

Recipients of the Legacy grants must also publish their findings by March 1, 2022.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility
-Applicants to the Legacy Research Fund must be either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
-Applicants must hold an academic appointment with any Nova Scotia academic institution that has national granting council (e.g. CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC) eligibility to conduct peer reviewed health-related research. Applicants without an academic appointment may collaborate with other investigators holding valid academic appointments.
-Applicants who have previously received a Legacy grant from 2018 or 2019 and have not submitted a progress report are ineligible.
-Grants may not be used to support investigators identified in the application or for indirect costs (e.g. overhead costs).
-Please note, the Legacy Research Grant does not cover conference costs, cannot be used to support investigators, or used for overhead costs.
