Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $5,000 to Texas nonprofit organizations, schools, and municipalities to strengthen communities within the funding source’s service area. Priority areas include, but are not limited to, community safety, education, environment, and economic development. The purpose of these grants is to promote vibrant Texas communities where the Texas-New Mexico Power Co. serves.

Priority Areas:

-Community Safety: improve community safety either directly for residents in public areas or indirectly through public safety services and programs.

-Economic Vitality: enhance economic development opportunities, including job training and job creation.

-Education: support educational initiatives, especially those targeting literacy, improving high school graduation rates, youth leadership and workforce development skills.

-Environment: provide measurable and visible environmental impacts, including preservation, restoration and beautification, or environmental education.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants may be submitted for up to $5,000.

Term of Contract:

Applicants will have until December 1, 2018 to complete their projects.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

501(c)(3) nonprofits, schools and municipalities are eligible to apply.

Pre-Application Information:

The grant window opens September 5, 2017. It will remain open until at least October 20, 2017.

Please Note: The deadline has been pushed back least two weeks to ensure that organizations in areas affected by Hurricane Harvey have time to complete their grants.

Applicants will be notified as to the status of their grant application no later than November 1, 2017.
