Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $250 and up to $500 to Arkansas schools, FFA chapters, and 4-H clubs for educational garden projects that showcase agriculture as an integral part of life. Gardens must be located on or next to a school site. Gardens may demonstrate the connection between food, agriculture, conservation, fiber, wildlife, and the urban environment.

Criteria for Schools, FFA Chapters, and 4-H Clubs:

  • A minimum of 100 students for average daily attendance
  • Garden must be located on or adjacent to the school site
  • A farmer volunteer, preferably a county Farm Bureau board member, must also serve as a project advisor. 
  • Teacher involvement is mandatory, and parental involvement is recommended
  • The gardens must contain agriculture crops such as corn, wheat, rice, soybeans, etc. and/or vegetables and fruits. Livestock projects are also acceptable.
  • This funding may not be used for flower gardens, butterfly gardens or nature trails.
  • A report on the garden must be submitted, including pictures and/or video, at the end of the project, growing season, or school year

Estimated Size of Grant:

Up to $500 will be awarded for new gardens, and up to $250 will be awarded for on-going garden projects.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants are made to schools, FFA chapters, and 4-H clubs.

This funding may not be used for flower gardens, butterfly gardens, or nature trails.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications will be accepted November 1 through February 15 as long as funding is available.

These are matching funds grants, and applications must include matching funds. Matching funds may include monetary donations from outside organizations and businesses, school funds, and in-kind donations such as material, labor, equipment, etc.
