Grant Description

Award to a Canada female mathematician in recognition of outstanding research contributions to the field. The recipient must be a member of the Canadian mathematical community and must have the support of three colleagues.

The Prize is an Inuit soapstone sculpture. Each sculpture is different, granting the recipient a unique Canadian piece of art. As well, the recipient of the Krieger-Nelson Prize presents a plenary lecture at a CMS meeting.

Female mathematicians are eligible.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline for nominations is June 30, 2016. Nominations and reference letters should be submitted electronically, preferably in PDF format, by the appropriate deadline, to

Nominators should ask at least three referees to submit letters directly to the CMS ( by September 30, 2016. Some arms length referees are strongly encouraged. Nomination letters should list the chosen referees, and should include a recent curriculum vitae for the nominee, if available.

The prize lecture will be delivered at the Summer Meeting.

A nomination can be updated and will remain active for two years.
