Grants of up to $25,000 to North Carolina and Virginia nonprofit organizations for community benefit programs in the funding source's service area. Eligible organizations serve the community by addressing its most critical needs in the following areas: economic and community development; health, wellness, and treatment; quality of life; environmental enhancement; and education and youth. Grantmaking is focused in the following counties: Ashe, Alleghany, Watauga, Wilkes, Avery, Caldwell, Alexander, Burke, and Catawba Counties in North Carolina; and Grayson and Carroll Counties in Virginia.

The community grant funding is limited to $25,000 per grant.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Blue Ridge Electric Members Foundation supports local nonprofit organizations that provide benefits to the people in Blue Ridge Energy's service area.

Religious and political organizations are not eligible for funding. General operating expenses should not be requested.

Applicants that demonstrate the ability to leverage other sources of funding are desirable; the Foundation will refrain from situations where it may be the primary or principal funding source and/or become the lifeline for continuing service of the applicant.

Only one grant application per organization will be accepted per year.
