Grants to Ontario IHEs, agencies, health centers, and community organizations in eligible areas for health research. Funding is intended for creative and collaborative research to improve the health of local residents, particularly respiratory health. Applicants must be located in the City of Hamilton.

The objectives of this fund are to support innovative applied or participatory research in community health by:

  • Encompassing a broad definition of health that incorporates lifestyle, social, physical and economic environments, health promotion and disease prevention
  • Promoting partnerships and collaboration between researchers and community organizations, agencies and institutions
  • Promoting the dissemination of acquired knowledge amongst community organizations, agencies and institution

The Fund has a particular interest in community health research that is focused on respiratory health. Additional priorities include:

  • Health promotion and disease prevention (enabling people to improve their health by creating conditions in communities for health)
  • Building a healthy community (collaborations for safe, caring, healthy, inclusive communities)
  • Integration of best practice in health and social services (dissemination of acquired knowledge and research findings in ways that assist decision makers and practitioners)

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Proposals are invited from community organizations, agencies and institutions in the City of Hamilton that have an interest in innovative community health research and are registered charitable organizations. (This includes hospitals, colleges and universities, community health centres, community agencies, and consumer organizations.)

If you are applying with a fiscal sponsor you must include a partnership agreement and your application must be signed by the Executive Director and Board Chair of the organization holding charitable status.
