Grants to Mathews County, Virginia organizations to benefit the local community. Funding is intended for projects and activities that benefit and enhance the lives of area children. Past funding has been used to support local schools, church programs, and an arts center.
Background:
The Mathews Market Dates is an annual two-day event that is held on the historic Court Green in Mathews County, VA the first weekend after Labor Day every year.
Since the very first Mathews Market Days in 1975, the Committee has donated any net proceeds back into the community. In the beginning, the Committee picked one or two local organization(s) to donate the funds to. As time has gone by and with so many great organizations and groups in Mathews, the Grant Program was started.
Starting in 2019, the MMD Committee has decided moving forward, it will concentrate grants on Mathews County organizations who provide any type of activity to benefit and enrich the lives of the children in the community.
