Grants to North Central Kansas nonprofit, governmental, religious, and educational organizations to enhance the quality of life. Program areas include arts and culture, social services and security, beautification, conservation and environment, health care, and education.
The Greater Salina Community Foundation administers Dane G. Hansen Foundation grants in the following Counties: Cloud, Ellis, Ellsworth, Graham, Jewell, Lincoln, Mitchell, Osborne, Ottawa, Phillips, Republic, Rooks, Russell, Saline, Smith, and Trego.
Grants will be awarded to projects or programs that address:
-Arts and Culture: Provide cultural and artistic opportunities to enhance the quality of life for local residents and to encourage tourism and the exchange of ideas.
-Community Beautification: Support efforts to improve and maintain public spaces to enhance community pride and encourage socialization among residents.
-Community Social Services and Security: Enhance access to social services needed for individuals of special needs and supports systems to provide community disaster relief and general community emergencies.
-Conservation and Environment: Support efforts to improve and maintain high air and water quality, appreciation for the natural environment and enhances economic and social benefits of outdoor resources.
-Education: Enhances the learning environment and expands opportunities of the public school system. Provides increased self-reliance on personal life skills and workforce capability.
-Health Care: Ensures access to quality health care services and promotes healthy life practices.
Preference will be given to applications that include community involvement and volunteerism.

Grants may be made to the following:
-501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, educational, government or religious institutions
-Individuals or organizations that do not fall into one of the above types of institutions are encouraged to partner with a fiscal agent in one of those categories. If that is not possible, a grant may still be awarded for a charitable project, but with additional expenditure responsibility requirements as outlined in the Grant Making and Due Diligence Policy & Procedure guidelines.
The Foundation will NOT consider grants to the following:
-Political projects of any kind
-Organizations or projects that practice discrimination by race, color, creed, sex, age, or national origin
-Operating deficits or retirement of debt
Grants shall not be used to reduce or replace budgetary needs for programs or projects that are tax-supported.
Applications are due August 15, October 15, December 15, February 15, and April 15.
