Grants of up to $10,000 to Minnesota and Wisconsin nonprofit organizations to improve the quality of life in local communities located within the funding source’s service area. Funding is intended to support programs and projects that align with the following areas of focus: economic development, community service, education and youth, environment, disaster relief, and energy assistance.

Operation Round Up contributions are used primarily in the local area served by the cooperative for charitable and educational purposes. All funds are used locally, except in cases of unusual disasters.

ECE's main office and operations center are located in Braham, MN, with service and/or operations centers in Milaca, MN, Finlayson, MN, Superior, WI, and Wahkon, MN. The ECE service area extends from northwestern Wisconsin on the east to the Mississippi River on the west. It includes parts of Douglas, Washburn and Burnett Counties in Wisconsin and parts of Aitkin, Carlton, Morrison, Mille Lacs, Sherburne, Kanabec, Isanti, Pine, Chisago, Washington, and Benton Counties in Minnesota.

The following factors will be considered in the evaluation of all funding requests:

a. Potential benefit to area residents and the entire community.
b. Level of community support for the program or project.
c. Administrative capability of the organization to deliver quality service or program.
d. Results that are predictable and can be evaluated.

Grants will not normally exceed $10,000 for any one group, organization or charity.

Contributions will generally be made to non-profit, civic or community-based organizations that demonstrate a commitment to enhance the quality of life in the region.

Contributions will generally be made to non-profit organizations that have been granted tax-exempt status under IRS Code Section 501(c).

Operation Round Up contributions are used primarily in the local area served by the cooperative. ECE's main office and operations center are located in Braham, MN, with service and/or operations centers in Milaca, MN, Finlayson, MN, Superior, WI, and Wahkon, MN. The ECE service area extends from northwestern Wisconsin on the east to the Mississippi River on the west. It includes parts of Douglas, Washburn and Burnett Counties in Wisconsin and parts of Aitkin, Carlton, Morrison, Mille Lacs, Sherburne, Kanabec, Isanti, Pine, Chisago, Washington, and Benton Counties in Minnesota.

Contributions will generally not be made for:

a. Lobbying, political and religious organizations or highly sensitive/controversial events.
b. Fraternal and labor organizations.
c. Fundraising dinners, raffles and other events.
d. Individuals.
e. Capital fund campaigns.
f. National fund drives.
g. Advertising.
h. Ongoing operational expenses.

Pre-Application Information:

The Operation Round Up Trust Board meets quarterly to review applications and award grants. The 2019 Meeting Dates and corresponding Application Due Dates are as follows:
- January 21, 2019: Applications due by December 17, 2018 (closed)
- April 22, 2019: Applications due by March 18, 2019 (closed)
- July 15, 2019: Applications due by June 10, 2019 (closed)
- October 21, 2019: Applications due by September 16, 2019

Local charitable organizations that want to apply for an Operation Round Up grant can call to request an application form.

Grants will be awarded only one time per year for any organization.
