Grants of up to $10,000 to Canada artists and arts organizations to support national and international travel to reach new markets and showcase their work. Funding in this cross-disciplinary program is available for performing arts, media and visual arts, literature, art books and literary and art magazines.

Travel Grants are intended to promote knowledge and appreciation of Canadian arts and to give Canadian and foreign audiences ongoing access to professional Canadian artists and their works.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant amounts vary according to individual requests and the availability of funds. You may or may not receive the full amount that you request. The maximum available per project is usually $10,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Audience and Market Development Travel Grants support the following types of applicants (see details in “Eligibility” in the attached program guidelines):
- Artists’ representatives, which include managers, agents, tour directors, distributors and gallery dealers
- Professional Canadian performing artists officially selected to showcase their works at a key contact event, trade fair, international festival or event
- Professional presenters, which include curators, promoters, producers, programmers and festival artistic directors
- Artists’ associations, arts organizations and presenter networks.

The Canada Council defines a professional artist as someone who has specialized training in the field (not necessarily in academic institutions), who is recognized as such by his or her peers (artists working in the same artistic tradition), and who has a history of public presentation or publication.
