Grants to Texas students in grades 9-12 to develop robotics teams to participate in events and competitions. Funding is available for event registration and fees, equipment, and robot components. The funding source is particularly interested in teams coming from under-served or financially limited communities or teams who reside in communities where FIRST® Robotics is not as well established.

Purpose of Grant

To promote the development of new teams and events in the state of Texas, and to promote the outreach to teams serving military bases, teams made up of home-schooled students, teams with members who have disabilities or are economically disadvantaged, and teams living in rural areas.

Grants are available for veteran and rookie teams to participate in both the FIRST® Robotics Competition and the FIRST® Tech Challenge.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible applicants:
- Any FIRST team in Texas can apply.
- The person submitting the application should be an adult (not a team member) who is a primary contact for the Team.
- The person submitting the application will need to create a free Submittable account. All grant-related communications will be sent to the email address associated with your Submittable account.
- Do not use a student team member’s name or email address when creating a Submittable account, or submit an application under a pre-existing student team member’s account.
- All students must be between 9th – 12th grades and must be living in the state of Texas.

Non-allowance costs:
- Sales Tax, Travel, Food, and Lodging Costs

September 13th: 1st Round Award Notifications go out

Round Two:
October 1st: Applications due for Round 2
October 2nd: 2nd Round of Application Reviews Begin
October 7th: 2nd Round Award Notifications go out

Round Three:
October 27th: Applications due for Round 3
October 28th: 3rd Round of Application Reviews Begin
November 1st: 3rd Round Award Notifications go out

January Onward: Available grants will continue to be awarded

Only one application per team may be submitted. Duplicate submissions will be deleted.
