Grants of up to $5,000 to Michigan junior and senior IHE faculty for pilot research projects in the areas of science, engineering, mathematics, life sciences, or other education-related topics. Preference is given to projects in the areas of earth system or space science and aerospace, although awards are not strictly limited to these topics. Women, under-represented minorities and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
This program is designed to facilitate the development of research expertise that will allow research activities to be proposed to other federal or non-federal funding sources.
Proposals will be read by reviewers from a range of scientific areas so clarity is the responsibility of the proposer. Note: while writing your proposal, please keep in mind the mission of the MSGC includes creating, developing, and promoting programs that reflect NASA strategic interests. See Supporting Documents below for the NASA Strategic Plan.
Funding can be used for travel and to purchase supplies and services. Funding can also be used for faculty and student salaries if they are U.S. citizens.
Michigan Space Grant Consortium Mission: To create, develop, and promote programs that support its vision and reflect NASA strategic interests, and to encourage cooperation between academia, industry, and state and local government in space-related science and technology in Michigan.
