Grant Description
Grants to Maryland individuals and groups to promote the arts in eligible communities. Funding is intended to support projects that engage residents in interactive arts experiences. Eligible projects include community dance, art, acting classes; cultural programs, performing or visual art community shows, and more. Projects must take place in Bowie to the benefit of Bowie residents, but applicants need not be Bowie residents.

Through City of Bowie Arts Grants, the City supports public awareness of artistic enterprises, and seeks groups or individuals who will develop a project that will involve Bowie residents in an interactive arts experience. This might include, but is not limited to:

  • Hands on art experience - dance, music, pottery making, beads, drawing, painting, and acting classes open to the community
  • Workshops or public performances - plays, musicals, spoken word, dance, etc.
  • Development and performance of a community band or choir
  • Group art opportunities, such as group lessons in an art form

Project proposals that address one or more of these criteria will receive a preference:

  • Projects that will provide ongoing benefits to the City. (Value added)
  • Projects that will be able to continue unassisted in the future.
  • Projects that will positively address larger numbers of City residents.
  • Projects targeted at under-served audiences within the City population.
