Request a Grant Writer

Grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 to Windham, Connecticut nonprofits, government agencies, schools, and other charitable organizations for programs and services that promote self-sufficiency through education and employment. New applicants are required to contact the Foundation prior to applying.

Priority is given to programs that:

  • Promote individual and family economic security;
  • Increase food security and access to nutritious food;
  • Decrease homelessness through programs that promote diversion and intervention.

Preference is given to programs that are:

  • Collaborative in nature;
  • Rooted in evidence-based, solution-oriented approaches;
  • Include specific, measurable outcomes; and
  • Effect positive change over the long term.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Eligible applicants may submit grant requests of $5,000 to $10,000. Few grants are made at the very top of this range.

Term of Contract:

Grants for multiyear programs may be considered if the applicant can demonstrate need.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants must be for the benefit of residents of the Town of Windham, Connecticut.

Applicants generally must be 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, schools, municipal or governmental agencies, or partner with a nonprofit fiscal agent. We do not make grants to individuals or to for-profit endeavors.


Grants will not support capital or endowment campaigns, litigation costs, religious programming, endowment campaigns, deficit funding or debt retirement. Grants are not typically made for special events.

-Applications must be submitted by 5 pm on Friday, December 16, 2019.
-Final decisions will be made and applicants will be notified no later than February 2020.

New applicant organizations are required to contact the Foundation before beginning an application.
