Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $30,000 to Alberta municipalities, nonprofit community organizations, schools, and native settlements to purchase recycled tire products for public projects such as parks, walking trails, arenas, and recreational facilities.

Funding is only for the purchase of surfacing materials manufactured with recycled tire products from eligible Alberta scrap tires.

Funding is provided as follows:
a) For recycled tire products used in the project, Alberta Recycling will match the Applicant’s contributions up to a maximum of $30,000.
b) Examples of eligible surfacing material include, but are not limited to, roofing, pour-in-place, sidewalk tile, indoor tile, and rubber matting.

Term of Contract:

The project cannot begin before April 1, 2018.

The project must be completed and accessible to the public by February 28, 2019.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible Applicants:

-Municipalities, including cities, towns, villages, municipal districts, Special Areas, hamlets, summer villages or towns under the Parks Act
-Registered nonprofit community organizations
-Indigenous Communities within the Province of Alberta
-Schools

The funding is for publicly accessible projects only; it cannot be used to fund private or commercial sector facilities or to fund components of a facility that is restricted or extremely limited for public use.

Restrictions:

-GST is not included in the funding.
-Labor and equipment provided by non-arm’s length persons, such as Applicant employees and volunteers, are ineligible for Grant funding.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications must be submitted by November 23, 2017 at 4:30 PM.

Applicants must match Alberta Recycling’s contributions towards the recycled tire products (up to $30,000).

Upon completion of the project, funds will only be released after all rant requirements are met and Alberta Recycling has completed an inspection of the project.
