Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Fellowship of $65,000 to a USA, Canada, or International rheumatologist for training in the treatment of lupus. Preference will be given to applicants from Canada. The fellow will participate in research activities, supervise the care and education of patients, and follow patients at an accredited lupus clinic in Ontario.

Awardees are expected to devote themselves for a period of 12 consecutive months wholly to the objectives of the Fellowship; namely, they will assess and follow patients with SLE in an accredited lupus clinic, participate in patient education, as well as physician education, and become involved in clinical research. Awardees may be requested to speak to the lupus community at a meeting, webinar or conference, or to submit an article geared to the lay person for the Lupus Ontario newsletter or website.

Why is the fellowship so important?

  • There is currently very little funding available for lupus research in Canada. Without research advancement in treatments for adult or pediatric lupus and there will be no cure.
  • The Fellow receives training on the latest methods for treating lupus. Lupus is a very complex disease that requires specialist knowledge to manage effectively.
  • The results of the research performed during the fellowship year add to the global body of lupus research
