Grant Description
Grants to British Columbia nonprofit organizations for search and rescue services in eligible regions. Funding may be used for minor capital improvements and operations. Applicants will describe the status of their volunteer force, outline their planned training activities, and provide a five-year action plan for their organization. Funding is intended for the Peace River Regional District.

According to the PRRD policy, a search and rescue service is defined as a volunteer ground search and rescue group operating as members of the British Columbia Search and Rescue Association to locate and retrieve missing or injured persons outside of urban areas not accessible by traditional emergency services personnel including police, fire, and road rescue response units.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Financial assistance is available as follows:

- All applicants must be a registered, not-for-profit society in good standing with the Societies Act of BC.

- Organizations that provide Search and Rescue Services must have a minimum of one (1) member certified, or in the process of becoming certified, as a ground search and rescue search manager.

Requests to acquire land, buildings, and major capital items are not permitted.

Pre-Application Information
Application Deadline: May 31

- Multi-year grants may be approved for up to a maximum of three consecutive years.
- Applicants must send at least one representative to the allocation meeting in July.

Term of Contract
Financial contributions must be utilized within one year of ratification by the Regional Board.
