Request a Grant Writer

Grant ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 to California nonprofits, government agencies, and Indian tribes for programs and projects in the San Francisco Bay Area that focus on breast health or breast cancer. Services must be provided for women, men, and their families living in the communities of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma.

Equipment costs will be considered on a case-by-case basis and should be used exclusively on this project. Salaries, if requested, are for personnel specific to this project only.

To Celebrate Life funds the following:

- Emergency Services (Rent, utilities, co-pays, prescriptions, dental)
- Direct Services (Food, transportation, support groups, prosthetics, post-surgery/lymphedema garments, clinical breast exam, and other non-salary costs)
- Diagnostic Testing: Screening and diagnostic mammograms – at negotiated rates; Diagnostic sonograms and ultrasounds – at negotiated rates; A limited number of MRIs for surgical decision-making – at negotiated rates; A limited number of ultrasound guided biopsies – at negotiated rates; A limited number of stereotactic biopsies – at negotiated rates
- Navigational Services (Translation, traversing the medical system, follow-up)
- Complementary Therapies (Holistic modalities – therapeutic massage, recovery fitness training, Jin Shin Jyutsu, manual lymph drainage, guided imagery, nutrition consultation)

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant awards generally range from $5,000 to $15,000.

Term of Contract:

The grant period begins April 1, 2019 and will conclude on March 31, 2020.

Qualifications:

- Applications are accepted from USA nonprofit institutions.
- Applicant organizations must be providing services in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, or Sonoma.

Note: Applicants must be a USA nonprofit (federally tax-exempt) organization, e.g. nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and Indian tribes are eligible.

To Celebrate Life Does Not fund:

- Any surgical procedures
- Research pertaining to breast cancer
- Salaries for Executive Directors
- Education
- Indirect costs (Organization/agency rent, utilities, printing, postage, etc.)

Pre-Application Information:

Applications must be received by To Celebrate Life no later than February 1, 2019. Applications received after February 1 will not be considered.

- February & March 2019: Grants Committee reviews proposals and meets to recommend new grantees.
- April 2019: Grant awards are funded
- September – October 2019: Grant recipients receive site visits
