In-kind grants to USA nonprofit organizations, schools, municipalities, and other public agencies for after-school soccer programs for children in grades K-8. Programs will serve as a tool to address children’s health issues and juvenile delinquency, while promoting healthy lifestyles in urban underserved communities.
The program’s innovative curriculum is aimed to maximize physical activity among participants each session, while also educating participants on key nutritional and healthy lifestyle information through over 40 unique activities.
The program is designed for children in grades K-8 and operates a minimum of three days per week for at least two 12-week seasons during the academic year. Each session runs for 75-90 minutes, and has a minimum child-to-adult ratio of 15:1.
The U.S. Soccer Foundation will provide all necessary equipment to operate the Soccer for Success program. This includes jerseys, shinguards, socks, soccer balls for all participants as well as field equipment such as cones, pop-up goals, first aid kits, and practice vests.
Those selected will begin programming during the fall season of the 2016-2017 academic year.
The grant period will cover programming for one year, with the ability for selected partners to reapply for funding in future years.
