Grants to Minnesota nonprofit organizations for programs to benefit local residents in eligible locations. Applicants are required to submit an LOI prior to submitting a full application. Focus areas include stabilizing families and individuals, helping children succeed, and empowering healthy lives. Funding is intended to benefit individuals and families on the Iron Range (Northern St. Louis County and Eastern Itasca County) and Koochiching County.

Helping Children Succeed:

  • Literacy and youth development with an emphasis on the underserved.
  • Youth mental health and substance abuse

Empowering Healthy Lives:

  • Regional healthcare and oral healthcare
  • The well-being of area seniors
  • Veterans’ services in UWNEMN service territory

Stabilizing Families and Individuals:

  • Hunger and food access
  • Stable living environment for individuals and families – transitional and long-term
  • Domestic violence and sexual assault

Pre-Application Information:

- Local non-profit agencies interested in receiving UWNEMN funding in 2022 should submit Letters of Intent by October 15, 2021, by 11:59 p.m.
- November 1, 2021: Application opens to those who move forward.
- January 13, 2022: Applications due.
- March 10, 2022: UWNEMN interviews agencies.
