Grants to Camarillo, California nonprofit organizations, including parent and teacher groups and community service organizations, for community programs and capital projects that directly benefit local residents. Funding is intended for both new programs and the enhancement of established events and programs.

Organizations based outside Camarillo city limits are not specifically excluded from funding eligibility. However, requests from agencies located within city limits, with programs primarily benefitting Camarillo residents, are one of the primary objectives of funds awarded as part of the Community Service Grants (CSG) process.

Grants are awarded on a one-year basis. The CSG cycle is on a fiscal year basis: July 1 through June 30.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

1. The City will consider requests for Community Service Grants to community service organizations, nonprofit corporations, and parent/teacher groups that directly serve or benefit Camarillo residents.
2. Funding will be provided only to legitimate non-governmental organizations that have a valid and current 501(c)(3) registration.
3. Grant award eligibility will include: Community service activities sponsored by Camarillo area organizations that benefit Camarillo residents, including enhancement of established events and programs, and Capital expenditure projects of eligible organizations that serve Camarillo residents.

Grant award eligibility will not include:
1. City-sponsored projects or annual community events.
2. Programs of other governmental agencies, including federal, state, county, city, special districts, and school districts.
3. For-profit organizations.
4. Foundations connected with or established to support public agencies.
5. Funding for on-going operations or salaries.
6. Funding for programs with more than a quarterly frequency.

The City of Camarillo is holding a presentation for non-profit groups and agencies seeking Community Service Grant funding for Fiscal Year 2020/21. The presentation will be held on:

Wednesday, December 4, 2019 - 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Camarillo Library, 4101 Las Posas Road

Pre-Application Information:

- Applications will be available on the City’s website after December 4.
- Application filing deadline: Friday, January 24, 2020, by 5:00 PM.
- Letter confirmation of application receipt within 3-5 business days.
- City Council will award grants at the second Council meeting in March.
- Grant award notifications mailed in late-March.
- Final budgetary approval when City Council adopts the Annual Budget in June.
- Funding will be available as of July 1st. Qualifying expenditures must be made between July 1 and June 30 of the applicable grant award year.

Application packets for the grant program are available on the City’s website following the December 4th workshop.

Electronic applications will not be accepted.

Requests will be forwarded to the City Council for action in March. Applicants will be invited to be present to respond to questions. Community Service Grants and Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) will be items on the same City Council agenda.

The City reserves the right to distribute the grant in installments.

If your grant is for a special purchase such as building renovations, equipment or other tangible improvements, funding will be provided when a final invoice is received along with the Disbursement Request form.
