Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $2,000 to Hillsdale County, Michigan organizations for projects and programs that enhance and engage communities. Eligible project examples are community beautification efforts and projects that promote community improvement, interaction, or engagement.

The strongest proposals will demonstrate creativity and innovation, and cannot duplicate services or programs already in place.

Ideal Project Qualities: 

-Good planning is evident in project timeline, goals, budget, and evaluation 
-Project has potential for great community impact 
-Any collaboration with other organizations has been agreed upon by all parties involved 
-Project will promote engagement of volunteers 
-Project displays cooperative efforts 
-Project will utilize local resources (businesses, vendors, etc.) as much as possible

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant awards will not exceed $2,000.

Term of Contract:

Projects must be completed by May 1, 2019.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Organizations serving Hillsdale may apply.

The program will not allow grants for:

-Religious or sectarian purposes
-Individuals
-Legislative or political purposes
-Loans
-Capital campaigns
-Routine maintenance, including office equipment
-Administrative costs for maintaining the present operation of an organization, including, but not limited to, staff salaries, wages, and benefits.
-Education requests that supplant rather than supplement the ongoing operations of the school district such as equipment or education materials, including state‐mandated/benchmark core curriculum supplies and resources.

Community Reception: April 12, 2018 

Applications must be received by 4 pm on January 31, 2018.
