Grants to Kansas nonprofit organizations in eligible regions that demonstrate and document excellence in quality artistic and cultural programs. Applicants are required to contact the funding source to discuss their application. Funding is intended to provide operational support to qualifying arts organizations serving the Wichita community.

Estimated Size of Grant:

- Large organizations with annual budgets of $500,000 or more, the maximum request allowed is 8% or up to $75,000.
- Medium organizations with annual budgets between $250,000 and $499,999, the maximum request allowed is 10%.
- Small organizations with annual budgets from $1 to $249,999, the maximum request allowed is 15%.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

An eligible applicant is one that meets all of the following criteria:
- Must have a mission statement that aligns with the following definition: “An organization that provides education and artistic leadership to the public through the production, exhibition, advancement or preservation of visual or performing art, literature, film, science, natural or cultural history.”
- Is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
- Has as its primary purpose to produce or present arts or cultural programs.
- Must serve the citizens of the City of Wichita.
- Is not a “Cultural Institution.” The Cultural Arts Plan defines “Cultural Institutions” as arts and cultural organizations with operations and activities owned and/or operated by the City of Wichita.
- Has a minimum of five (5) years of operational history serving the citizens of Wichita.
- Has full-time professional management and/or cultural/artistic staff.
- Presents a full season of exhibitions or performances.
- Is ADA compliant.

Pre-Application Information:

Applicants are required to schedule a time to answer questions from the CFC pertaining to their application. Organizations may call the Division of Arts and Cultural Services between January 13 and March 31, 2020, to schedule a 15 minute block of time to meet with the CFC members to answer any questions pertaining to the application or organization. Q & A sessions will be held Thursday, April 23, 2020.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to meet with The Division of Arts and Cultural Services staff to review the application requirements and answer any questions regarding the application or process. Staff is also available until March 2, 2020 to review an organization’s grant application. To set a time to meet with Division staff, please contact Bernadette Bradshaw.

- Monday, January 13, 2020: Application is available to organizations.
- Monday, January 13, 2020 through Monday, March 2, 2020: The Division of Arts & Cultural Services staff is available to answer questions and review drafts of applications for content.
- Monday, March 9, 2020, 5:00 PM: Submission deadline for the FY2021 application.
- January 13 through March 31, 2020: Reserve a 15-minute time slot for Q & A Session with Cultural Funding Committee
- Thursday, April 23, 2020, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM: Q & A Sessions
- Thursday, April 30, 2020, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM: Deliberations
- Thursday, May 7, 2020, Noon to 5:00 PM (if necessary): Continuation of Deliberations if needed.
- Thursday, June 4, 2020: Finalize recommendations for Wichita City Council

Completed applications must be received (not postmarked) on or before the application deadline.
