Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $10,000 to Iowa nonprofit organizations and public entities in eligible areas for projects that address the needs of local residents and strengthen communities. Funding is intended for projects that offer educational, cultural, and recreational support, and promote wellness, community enhancement, and/or physical and mental health care in Poweshiek County.

Projects of particular interest are those providing:

  • Cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities
  • Enhance the safety, beauty, and economic vitality of the county

Projects/programs that will benefit more than one community in the county are encouraged, and preference will be given to applications seeking matching funds, or to organizations seeking to collaborate with other local nonprofits.

Estimated Size of Grant:

No application will be rejected solely on the amount requested; however, the Foundation anticipates supporting individual requests up to $10,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Nonprofit organizations (501(c)(3)) or public entities are eligible to apply if they are located in or provide services within a particular community or the unincorporated areas of Poweshiek County.

Applications for general campaigns are not accepted.

Grants will not be awarded to:
- Organizations that discriminate based on race, sex, sexual orientation, age or religion
- Organizations that do not serve the greater Poweshiek County area
- Individuals
- Support loans or debt retirement
- Support attendance at conferences or annual meetings
- Political campaigns and lobbying efforts
- Sectarian organizations whose services are limited to members of any one religious group
- Provide retroactive funding for any project expenses incurred before GPCF’s decision dates
