Grants to Rochester, New York neighborhood and community associations, block clubs, and resident-led neighborhood groups to enhance the quality of life for residents of the City's West Side. Funding is intended to assist organizations that are neighborhood-based and resident-controlled as they focus on a wide range of neighborhood issues and support the well-being of local families.

Funds are available for Progress in Action, a new grassroots initiative developed by Five Star Bank to support the well-being of families in Rochester one block at a time.

  • Progress in Action is meant to benefit residents in economically vulnerable neighborhoods.
  • Eligibility will be dependent upon projects benefiting economically vulnerable neighborhoods and the improvement in the quality of life in a meaningful and sustainable fashion for residents in the neighborhood.

Neighborhood Associations: Up to $2,500.
Block Clubs: Up to $750.

The next round will accept applications from organizations serving neighborhoods on Rochester's west side. Eligible organizations include:

Neighborhood Associations
-Neighborhood associations have broad missions and broader coverage than block clubs, focus on a wide range of neighborhood issues, and are capable of facilitating activities for smaller groups.

Block Clubs
-Block clubs are smaller in focus than neighborhood associations, usually organized on one street or block.

Other Community Associations
-Community associations include the following:
Landlord and tenant associations
Neighborhood-based business or merchants associations

Progress in Action
- Resident-led neighborhood groups of all sizes and in all formats are eligible to participate.

Restrictions:
Nonprofit organizations that are not neighborhood-based and resident-controlled are not eligible.
