Grants to New York nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and Tribal organizations for innovative programs to decrease traffic-related injuries and fatalities. Nonprofit applicants must complete required registrations prior to applying. Funding is intended to enhance the safety of roadways throughout the State.

Program areas considered for the general Highway Safety Grant funding include: occupant protection; traffic enforcement; motorcycle safety; traffic records; community programs; programs that impact younger drivers or older drivers; pedestrian safety; roadway safety and impaired driving.

In 2022, the impaired driving program will focus on statewide projects that support training, enforcement, and technology and state agencies’ initiatives to support the efforts of the County STOP-DWI programs.

Eligible Applicants: Not-For-Profit, Governmental Entity, Tribal Organization

Not-for-profit agencies must be registered with the NYS Charity Bureau, pre-qualified with the NYS Grants Gateway, and have valid proof of Workers’ Compensation and Disability Insurance or proof of exemption.

For profit agencies and individuals are not eligible, nor are applications to develop a product or provide a service for profit.

Not-for-profit agencies must register with and be pre-qualified in the New York State Grants Gateway before submitting a GTSC grant proposal. Approval is not automatic.

All applicants must provide their Federal ID number, NYS Vendor ID and DUNS number on the Organization Information in eGrants.
