Grant Description
Grants starting at $50,000 to USA and territories nonprofits, for-profits and public agencies for studies that produce empirical and policy-relevant analysis of the affordability of health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. Researchers and policymakers are invited to submit proposals through their organizations.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is working to support opportunities to pursue the best health possible across a number of broad areas, including expanding access to affordable, high-quality health coverage for all Americans. This solicitation seeks to fund quantitative studies that evaluate or predict the effects of policies or policy changes related to health insurance coverage.

Projects may be generated from disciplines including health services research, economics, sociology, program evaluation, political science, public policy, public health, public administration, law, business administration, or other related fields.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Applications are accepted from nonprofit organizations, public agencies and, in certain cases, for-profit organizations.

The Foundation may give preference to applicants that are either public agencies or nonprofit organizations that are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and are not private foundations or Type III supporting organizations. The Foundation may require additional documentation.

Historically, less than one percent of funding has been to for-profit organizations, and always in instances where the institution's project is an excellent fit with the Foundation’s strategies.

Applicant organizations must be based in the United States or its territories.

Timeline:
-February 19, 2016 (3:00 PM ET): Deadline for receipt of full proposals.
-May 26, 2016: Notification of finalists.
-September 1, 2016: Grants start.

Term of Contract
Studies may last 6 - 12 months. Preference will be given to rapid-turnaround projects that can be completed within six months. Projects lasting longer than six months must provide strong justification for the grant period.

Grants will begin on September 1, 2016.
