Grant Description

Scholarships to New Jersey youth in eligible counties to defray the costs of travel programs to Israel. The purpose of this program is to provide opportunities to residents in grades 9-12 to experience Israel with an organized program. Scholarship recipients must be residents of Middlesex or Monmouth County.

Eligible programs are tuition-based, organized Zionist youth trips to Israel, at least 3 weeks long, that may include visits to other countries such as Eastern Europe. 

Recipients traveling during the summer may also apply for The Anne and Herbert Goldstein Fund for Summer Youth Travel, an additional $1,000 competitive grant.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All families raising Jewish children are eligible to apply.

Scholarship recipients will reside in Middlesex or Monmouth County, enter 9th – 12th grade and will be eligible to receive this scholarship one time only.

Pre-Application Information:

All applications must be submitted by March 18, 2022.

If a scholarship is awarded, payment is made directly to the program provider.

Scholarship recipients agree to perform local community service in the late winter or spring of 2022, as part of J-Serve, the international day of Jewish teens community service. (An alternative option will be offered for winter travelers).

Scholarship recipients and/or one of their parents agree to participate in a call-out and help the Federation raise money for grants, teen programs, and much more, by making phone calls to donors (training will be provided).

A refundable deposit of $250 must be submitted upon completion of the application, no later than one month prior to departure. The deposit will be refunded after the participant fulfills all the requirements mentioned in the "teen personal commitment for Federation grant" section of the application.
