Grants of up to $7,500 to Israel tenured and non-tenured faculty members of a Jerusalem-based university to support scholarly exchange with Canadian project partners, or to carry out scholarly work in Canada. Funding may be requested for international airfare and other related expenses.

This program is intended to facilitate scholarly exchanges on topics with significant Canadian content between faculty of the Hebrew University and faculty affiliated with recognized institutions of higher education in Canada. The program may also be utilized for individual Israeli scholars who do not have a Canadian partner, but can demonstrate either substantial need for their academic agenda to be conducted in Canada or significant Canadian content in their academic agenda.

Any publication or activity resulting from the grant must include explicit mention of The Halbert Centre for Canadian Studies. The researcher will also be required to present a report at the end of the project, which will be distributed to members of the Academic Committee at HUJI and the Advisory Committee in Canada.

The maximum award among is $7,500 (CD).

Term of Contract:

Utilization of the grant is valid for a period of 12 months, beginning in October of the following year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Israeli-Canadian Faculty Collaboration Grant is open to tenured and non-tenured (with teken) faculty members of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Scholars at the Hebrew University who have completed their Ph.D. degrees within the last seven years will be given priority in allocating the program grants.

Pre-Application Information:

The letter of intent from your Canadian research partner should be submitted directly to the Halbert Centre, via e-mail.

The application file and the letter must be submitted no later than February 22, 2018.

Applicants for the scholarship will be informed of the approval or rejection of their requests by the end of March 2018.
