Grants to Texas nonprofit organizations for activities in the areas of education, youth development, aging, and therapeutic and rehabilitative services for individuals with disabilities. Projects may be located in eligible central Texas counties and the City of Brownsville. Funding is available for both program support and general operating support.

Focus Areas:
-Education, with focus on college access and readiness preparation in grades 6-12
-Youth Development, with primary interest in programs inclusive of STEAM-based activity for youth in the secondary school age group
-Aging, with emphasis in aging in place and increasing public awareness of aging issues
-Therapeutic and rehabilitative services for the mentally and/or physically disabled, with focus upon individual self sufficiency, functionality, and improved quality of life

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

-To qualify for consideration for a grant, an organization must have a determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service indicating that it is an organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and is treated as other than a private foundation within the meaning of Section 509(a) of the code.
-An organization may also qualify if it falls within the terms of Section 170(c)(1) and the contribution requested is to be used exclusively for public purposes.

The Foundation will not fund the following:
-Loans or program-related investments
-Organizations which discriminate based on age, race, color, creed, or sex
-Other private foundations and community foundations
-Federated campaigns
-Political campaigns
-Political lobbying
-Religious organizations

Pre-Application Information:

The Mitte Foundation accepts online submissions only. Organizations may submit one Letter of Inquiry annually and will be advised of the decision in accordance with the schedule below.

The Foundation will review all inquiries and provide an emailed response: either a denial, or an invitation to submit a full grant proposal.

Only those applicants who have received a favorable response to their letter of inquiry will be able to access the application to submit a full grant proposal. Should you receive a Request for Proposal, the instructions and deadlines for online application will be provided in that communication.

The Mitte Foundation accepts Letters of Inquiry annually according to the following schedule:
-LOI may be submitted beginning: June 15
-Deadline for submitting LOI: July 15
-You will receive a decision by: August 31
