Grant Description
Grants of up to $70,000 to Arkansas nonprofit organizations serving eligible locations to address programmatic and capacity-building needs. Program focus areas include education, health, and financial stability. Funding is intended for applicants serving local residents of Faulkner, Conway, Perry, and/or Van Buren counties.

Successful applicants will present programmatic or capacity building needs and demonstrate how grant funding would strengthen the work of their agency within United Way’s focus areas:

  • Education – Preparing children, youth, and young adults to succeed in school and life.
  • Financial Stability – Helping individuals and families pave a path to financial independence.
  • Health – Supporting basic human needs and helping individuals live healthy, independent lives.

In addition, grant applicants must demonstrate how their work identifies and directly impacts one or both of these target populations:

  • Those experiencing racial/ethnic disparities;
  • Individuals and families living below the ALICE threshold

Additional Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must meet and provide evidence of the following requirements:
• Recognized 501(c)3 non-profit, tax exempt organization and/or a tax-exempt entity by the IRS;
• Locally based volunteer board that meets at least quarterly and elects officers;
• Registration with the Arkansas Secretary of State, if required;
• Have a policy of non-discrimination (board, staff, volunteers and clients);
• Have at least one paid employee;
• Compliant with all applicable anti-terrorist financing and asset control laws as outlined by the federal Patriot Act;
• Serves clients in Faulkner, Conway, Perry and/or Van Buren counties.

Ineligible
Grant funds cannot be sought for lobbying/political activities nor for inherently religious activities. (i.e., religious worship, instruction, or proselytization)

Timeline:
- March 1: Grants Available
- April 1: Grant Applications Due
- Early June: Grant Announcements made

Grants will be paid in monthly installments from July to June.

Applicants can submit applications for up to 3 programs. The requests must be in 3 separate applications.

Estimated Size of Grant
Grant funding range will be $5,001-$70,000. (Applicants can submit applications for up to 3 programs; total funding requests for all 3 programs combined must not exceed $70,000.)
