Grants of up to $15,000 to North Shore, British Columbia nonprofit organizations for events, projects, programs, and capital support that will improve the quality of life for residents. Funding is intended for initiatives that will reduce social, economic, or physical disadvantage. For this grant program, the North Shore includes the District of North Vancouver, the City of North Vancouver, and the District of West Vancouver.

Eligible expenses include:
- Special projects and events: e.g. hosting a workshop or producing resource material.
- Operating costs: e.g. ongoing operating costs such as rent, utilities, fixed costs.
- New projects: e.g. a new program to serve a particular group. A program typically has distinct resources committed to the operation of that specific program, such as staff costs and other expenses related to that program.
- Capital costs: e.g. the purchase of office equipment. NOTE: the Districts of North and West Vancouver do not fund capital costs.

In evaluating each application for funding, the following will be the basis for assessment of your application. Please address these in your application:

- Evidence of need for the service or project.
- Number of local residents served.
- Quality of management (established track record, proposal well thought out and clear, etc.).
- Evidence of clear goals and expected outcomes.
- Uniqueness of service (does not duplicate but may complement an existing service).
- Number of local volunteers.
- Evidence of financial need for a North Shore Municipal Community Grant.
- Amount of funding requested from each municipality is proportional to the numbers of residents served.
- Addressing barriers to services for people with disabilities, from varying social and economic backgrounds, and for ethno-cultural residents.
- Indicated involvement from other community partners, whether financial or in kind.

The maximum grant available from the City of North Vancouver is $15,000.

The term of a North Shore Municipal Community Grant is one year.

The organization applying for a grant must be:
- Not-for-profit.
- Providing services to residents of the municipality(ies) from which funding is requested.
- Seeking sources of funding other than North Shore Municipal Community Grants.
- Able to provide proof of financial responsibility (latest financial statement).

There are now two application deadlines annually - January 31st and September 15th of each year, or where these dates land on a weekend, the next regular business day.

Notifications regarding the first round of applications will be by June 2017. Notification regarding the second round of applications will be in by December 2017.

Please also note that, due to potential changes in funding priorities, grants are made on a year by year basis with no ongoing commitments.
