Grants to New York nonprofit organizations and government agencies to foster greater equity in early childhood education in eligible locations. Funding may be used to support public policy research and advocacy, communication efforts, and activities to improve the effectiveness of early childhood care providers. Eligible applicants are those serving the greater Rochester region (Monroe, Orleans, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties), with preference given to programs serving children in the city of Rochester.
The Foundation is interested in supporting the early childhood community in the following ways:
Projects that involve public policy research, evaluation, and/or advocacy in order to better understand the scope of a policy advocate for change or improve the delivery of services;
Broad communication efforts that, for example, would attempt to affect the behavior of a large number of individuals or foster public dialogue on an issue;
Organizations providing cost-effective training or technical assistance, contracting with an outside expert to serve as a resource, or facilitating peer group learning in order to improve the effectiveness of a large number of early childhood care providers; and
Projects that leverage significant other support and/or dollars from government, major private foundations, or individuals.
Any 501(c)(3) organization or government entity serving the greater Rochester region (Monroe, Orleans, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties). Preference will be given to those programs serving children in the city of Rochester.
The Community Foundation’s competitive grants program generally does not fund special events, fundraising campaigns, religious activities, endowments, buildings (except for historical assets), or debt retirement.
The upcoming application deadline is Friday, May 19, 2023.
