Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $5,000 to Michigan nonprofit organizations, schools, IHEs, government agencies, and churches in eligible areas for projects that benefit local communities. Priority funding is intended for original and ambitious projects that are seeking "seed money" and that show funding support from additional sources. Eligible applicants serve the residents in the geographic area of Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, or Presque Isle County.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Applicants may submit requests up to a maximum of $5,000 per application cycle unless otherwise indicated.

Term of Contract:

Grants are normally paid within one year of approval. If necessary, a written request may be submitted for a six (6) month extension.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The organization must provide benefits to those within the geographic area of Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, or Presque Isle Counties.

The applicant organization must be recognized as a nonprofit charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. Schools, colleges or universities, churches, and government agencies are also eligible. Grants to religious organizations will be considered only if they serve the general public and do not have religious overtones of a sectarian nature.

No grants are made to individuals. Grants are not made for routine operating needs or budget deficits.

Pre-Application Information:

The CFNEM Community Impact Grant Application deadlines are January 15 and July 15.

All applications must be received by the deadline date (or postmarked by the deadline date if mailing.)

Applicants must secure the appropriate signatures from their organization (i.e., executive director or person in charge of the organization) before the proposal is submitted.

Board approval is usually within six (6) weeks of the grant deadline.
