Grants to Manitoba registered charities for projects that benefit the local community. Funding is intended to address community concerns. Grant requests may also be made to support performing arts programs that have special significance for the community or include Jewish content. Pilot projects must include a plan for future funding beyond the pilot stage.

Preference is given to projects that:

  • Address community priorities and issues;
  • Encourage more efficient use of community resources;
  • Strengthen internal management capabilities of the applicant;
  • Promote volunteer participation and citizen involvement;
  • Demonstrate innovative approaches and techniques to resolve community problems.  

Performing Arts Opportunities – in respect to arts organizations only: Performing arts organization projects (plays, opera, art exhibitions, symphonies, and ballets) are considered operating projects as it is the mandate of these organizations to produce art. Grant applications will be accepted for these operating projects providing the project has Judaic content and/or special significance to the community at large.

There is no minimum or maximum amount, however it should be noted that the average grant amount is $8,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

These types of grants are only available to registered charities in Manitoba. They must fund projects within Manitoba.

Grants are not made for:
- Costs occurring prior to notification of grant approval;
- Fundraising appeals such as memberships and sponsorships;
- Ongoing operations of an organization;
- Existing programs.

Grants are not made to projects or programs that are already in progress at the time of the grant application.

Pre-Application Information:

General Community Grants are awarded once per year. The deadline for applications is June 30. Applications are accepted starting May 15.
