Grants of $500 to South Carolina public and private school teachers for educational projects that promote the value and importance of farming and agriculture. Funding will be provided to one school in each of the funding source's four districts for teachers who qualify through an application process.

Winning teachers must design a project that includes the production of agricultural crops and/or activities related to successfully growing and producing food or fiber. Examples include wheat, corn, oats, peanuts, cotton, fruits, vegetables, honey bees, composting, vermiculture, soil nutrition, and other effective farming practices.

Applicants must demonstrate that their goals and objectives are clearly measurable and that the project directly involves their students.

The project must be advised by a county Farm Bureau volunteer leader, and mini-grant recipients will be in communication with a state YF&R committee member throughout the process.

One school per each of the four SCFB Districts in the state will be selected to receive a grant.

$500

Projects must directly involve students in a public or private elementary, middle, or high school.

Due to limited funding, pre-schools, colleges, and community clubs are not eligible.

Application Process:

- Proposals must be submitted on the SCFB Mini Grant Application Form and should be typed. The application form is attached below.
- Applicants may only submit one application per year.
- Proposals should include all requested information and be approved by the school principal.
- SCFB Young Farmer and Rancher Committee members will evaluate each application before grants are awarded.

Notification of winning schools will be given by January 19, 2018, and awards will be given no later than February 16, 2018.

SCFB Young Farmer and Rancher Committee reserves the right to change the dates and award amounts based on applications received.
