The Calvin K. Kazanjian Economics Foundation

Deadline Date:

09/10/21

Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Grants to USA nonprofit organizations for projects addressing financial education. Funding is intended for projects that make the topic of economics more interesting and those that can easily be taught in schools and colleges. Projects that help students and adults often identified as “at-risk” of not participating in the market economy are encouraged.

Please choose one of the four areas:
  1. Have an innovative pilot project looking for funders to take a risk to prove the concept.
  2. Implement new marketing capabilities to reach more people served.
  3. Produce a student program to generate demand and excitement for economic education (e.g. a book review competition by high school students, a student video competition) demonstrating their knowledge of economics or personal finance.
  4. Implement economic education programs in a recently mandated state.

While a variety of considerations are used in evaluating proposals, the Foundation will pay special attention to the following:

  • Significance: Does the proposed project effectively address the key issues outlined in the current guideline?
  • Plan of Operation: Is there good potential for the proposed project to reach its stated objectives?
  • Technical Soundness: Does the applicant exhibit a thorough knowledge of current developments in economic education, and are the proposed methodologies and/or implementation designs adequate?
  • Quality of Key Personnel and Reputation of the Institution: The quality of any co-sponsoring institutions will also be considered under this criteria.
  • Budget and Cost Effectiveness: Leveraged uses of Foundation funds along with possible matching sources will be evaluated favorably.
  • Evaluation: All proposals should have an evaluation component. The Foundation is interested in knowing how the project will be measured against its stated objectives.

The Foundation will look most favorably at programs that match grants of support with funds from other organizations, learning institutions, universities, colleges, and government sources.
