Grant Description
Grants to USA nonprofit organizations in multiple states to benefit local residents. Past grants have supported Special Olympics and housing initiatives, addressed food insecurity, and assisted families of military veterans. Eligible organizations are located within a 30-mile radius of SpartanNash's 147 retail stores, 19 distribution centers, and service centers located in Grand Rapids, Michigan; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Norfolk, Virginia. The Foundation will only consider applications from organizations providing services in these regions.

The SpartanNash Foundation supports 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that align with the focus areas of Hunger, Heroes and Hope in the communities SpartanNash serves.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
The SpartanNash Foundation invites 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that align with the Foundation's focus areas of Hunger, Heroes and Hope to submit a grant application.

To be eligible to receive a grant from the SpartanNash Foundation, the organization must be a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating in the communities SpartanNash serves.

Additional Geographic Information:

To be eligible, an organization must be located within a 30-mile radius of any of the SpartanNash corporate offices, distribution centers or more than 147 retail store. See

The SpartanNash Foundation does not make grants to:
- Organizations that are not 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofits
- Organizations outside a 30-mile radius of SpartanNash retail stores, distribution centers and service centers
- Organizations that do not align with our focus areas of Hunger, Heroes and Hope
- Organizations that have previously received a donation from the SpartanNash Foundation through a retail fundraiser held in the same calendar year
- Individuals
- Endowments
- National ceremonies, memorials, conferences, fundraising dinners, testimonials or other similar events
- Elected officials
- Organizations that do not comply with our Anti-Harassment and Discrimination Policy, including those that allow discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, genetic information, age or protected veteran status.

If any of the above apply to your organization or grant request, you will not be considered for funding.

Pre-Application Information
Grant applications can be submitted once annually and must be received in full by 5 p.m. ET on the day of the submission deadline to be considered for that quarter’s Foundation board meeting. Grants are reviewed and approved by the SpartanNash Foundation Board of Trustees during their quarterly meetings.
