Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $5,800 to Wyoming nonprofits and agencies for projects addressing the wild bear population and issues related to bears in Wyoming. Priority is given to projects with established partnerships, matching funds, highest wildlife impact, management relevance, and appropriate budgets.

Funding may support research, habitat protection, education, and other projects for all species of bears. Projects will be evaluated based on the likelihood of success, project readiness, availability of matching funds, significance at local/state/regional level, duration of benefits, and adequacy of monitoring.

Out‐of‐state organizations are welcome to submit a proposal, but only if the project is clearly linked to Wyoming’s wildlife.

Grant requests of more than $5,800 will not be considered.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for support, your organization or institution, as well as the purpose of the proposed project, must qualify as charitable under the regulations of the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Please note: Out‐of‐state organizations are welcome to submit a proposal, but only if the project is clearly linked to Wyoming’s wildlife.

Funding is not provided directly to individuals.

Government agencies may apply for grants; however, grant funds will be paid out on a reimbursement basis.

Please note that Memorial Bear Fund grant dollars may not be used to cover overhead costs or administrative costs of the submitting organization.

Pre-Application Information:

Online applications are due by October 2, 2017. The board will meet in mid-October to make funding decisions.

Please note: Government agencies may apply for grants; however, grant funds will be paid out on a reimbursement basis. In all other situations, the grant funds are released immediately to help support project costs.
