Grants to Maryland nonprofit arts organizations, government agencies, and institutions of higher education to enhance local arts and culture programs in eligible locations. Programs must benefit local residents and be open to the general public. Arts programs should promote participation in and appreciation of the arts and may include the areas of dance, music, theater, visual arts, folk/traditional/heritage arts, literary arts/literature, media arts/film, or multi-discipline. Programs must take place within Frederick County.

There are two pools of Community Arts Development grant funding. An organization should only apply for only one:

  1. Arts organizations should apply for a General Operating Grant.
  2. Non-arts organizations that present arts programming should apply for an Arts Project Grant. This includes post-secondary academic institutions and governmental bodies. Arts Project Grants support special arts activities produced or presented for general audiences that are not part of an organization’s ongoing activities.
