Grants to Utah nonprofit organizations, as well as governmental and tribal agencies, for programs and services that benefit low-and-moderate-income communities, with a specific focus on the areas of education, human services, community development, and civic/culture/arts. Priorities for each of these areas are outlined below.

1) Community Development

Wells Fargo provides support for programs that create and sustain affordable housing, revitalize and stabilize communities, and teach financial literacy. As part of its commitment to financial literacy, Wells Fargo has developed Hands on Banking® / El Futuro en Tus Manos®, a comprehensive modular curriculum targeting age groups from grade four to senior citizens.

2) Education

Wells Fargo accepts requests for financial support of educational institutions and for nonprofits whose primary focus is to help these institutions. The primary focus of grant requests should promote academic achievement for low- and moderate-income students. If you are seeking funding for K-12 public school classroom needs, please visit

3) Human Services

Wells Fargo accepts requests for support of human service organizations and gives priority to those whose work primarily benefits low and moderate – income individuals. Health charities are considered, but their priority for funding is low.

4) Civic/Cultural/Arts

Wells Fargo considers requests for financial support from organizations that enhance a community’s overall quality of life, including arts programs, cultural festivals, and other activities that help provide opportunities for the community’s diverse residents.

Wells Fargo is unable to consider grants for multi-year requests.

Wells Fargo makes contributions to organizations with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the USA Internal Revenue Code, as well as qualified tribal and governmental agencies.

In Utah, a charitable organization is required to be registered with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection before soliciting charitable contributions. All nonprofit organizations submitting a proposal to Wells Fargo should be registered with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection.

Please note that Wells Fargo is unable to consider grants for the following:

- Individuals
- Political action committees, candidates, causes, and lobbying
- For-profit entities including start-up businesses
- Endowments
- Video or film production
- Promotional items
- Political, labor, religious, or fraternal activities
- Travel, including student trips, or conferences for employees of nonprofit organizations
- Sports or athletic groups or activities
- Vehicles
- Multi-year programs
- Capital campaigns
- International organizations
- Books, research papers, or articles in professional journals
- A group/organization utilizing a fiscal agent

The Utah Region accepts applications from January 1 to October 15. However, Wells Fargo recommends that you submit as early in the year as possible.
