Grants to American Samoa nonprofit organizations and Hawaii learning institutions to enhance educational opportunities for the youth of American Samoa. In addition to general education programs, funding is also available to higher education institutions, preferably located in Hawaii, to provide tuition assistance to students from American Samoa.

Program Grants:

Education of Samoan youth was adopted by the first Permanent Committee as their main field in which to serve the Samoan people. The benefits of the Foundation may be extended for projects in cases which the Permanent Committee deems it appropriate.

Funding is intended for the following: assistance to schools, government and/or private; education of Samoan youths abroad; education of residents in hygiene; and assistance in creating and maintaining a Cultural Education Center, including a museum or library.

Tuition Aid Program Information:

Grants for Tuition Aid Programs are available to college or university learning institutions, preferably in Hawaii, serving students newly arrived from American Samoa entering their second year of college and majoring in the fields of math and/or science.

The Foundation does not provide multiple-year funding.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Permanent Committee's general policy is to consider qualified tax-exempt (501(c)(3) organizations within American Samoa and learning institutions within the State of Hawaii.

College or university learning institutions, preferably in Hawaii, may request funding from the Tuition Aid program for program participants who are whole or part Polynesian blood and to whom American Samoa is home.

The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, to endowments, for reserve purposes, or deficit financing.

Pre-Application Information:

Proposals are due October 1.

Program Grant applicants must demonstrate the commitment of the school principal (if applicable).
