Grants averaging $600 to $1,200 to Broward County, Florida preK-12 teachers and school administrators to enrich classroom curriculum. This year, priority will be given to projects designed to enhance and expand the delivery of arts education, STEM, healthy nutritional choices, and early childhood literacy (Pre-K to 3). Projects designed to enrich the standard curriculum and explore new alternatives to traditional methods of learning are eligible.

The following is a list of grant programs:

Andrew J. Kimmel Journalism & Creative Arts Grant
These grants should emphasize the “arts” in language arts, including comedy, drama, film, mass media and public speaking in middle school and/or high school.

City of Hallandale Beach Teacher Grants
These grants are for teachers that teach at a school in Hallandale Beach.

City of Hollywood Teacher Grants
These grants are for teachers that teach at a school in the City of Hollywood. City of Hollywood grants need to be in any of the nine focus areas, which include:
- Arts, Music, Theater
- Character Education
- Civics Education
- Health & Wellness
- Diversity & Cultural Outreach
- Career Planning & Vocational Training
- Environment
- Parental Involvement
- Enhanced Curriculum, including S.T.E.M.

The Broward Education Foundation Teacher Grant
This year’s priority will be given to projects designed to enhance and expand the students and teachers integration of the following focus areas:
- Chess
- Debate
- Drama
- Early Childhood
- Health & Physical Education
- Music
- STEAM; Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics
- STEM; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
- Visual Arts

Wells Fargo S.T.E.M. Grant
These grants should target hands-on learning strategies linked to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

Number of Grants:

40 grants to teachers and school-based administrators

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants may vary in amount depending on the nature of the project but will usually average $600 – $1,200.

Term of Contract:

Project funds must be spent by the end of the 2017–2018 school year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Broward County public school teachers and school-based administrators working with grades pre K – 12 are eligible to apply.

Grant funds may not be used for expansion and/or maintenance of existing programs or as a personal honorarium for the applicant.

Proposals including substitute teacher costs, outside consultants and field trips will only be considered if the item is an integral, vital component of a larger strategy.

Proposals will not be funded for expansion and/or maintenance of previous grants.

Pre-Application Information:

Each applicant may submit only one proposal. You will receive a confirmation email after you submit online.

Application deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Copies can be placed in the pony on Thursday, November 30, 2017.

A committee comprised of business and community leaders and educators will grant requests on a competitive basis. All grants will be awarded by April 30, 2018.
