Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF) - Swift Memorial Health Care Foundation
Grants ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 to Ventura County, California nonprofit organizations for programs and services that aim to improve the health of County residents. Funding is intended to support new projects, expansion of existing programs, staffing, and equipment. Funds may also be granted for program-related staff or volunteer training, technical assistance, facility expenses, and other associated costs.
The VCCF looks for projects where a moderate amount of grant money may affect a significant result, and where there is a well-planned and/or new approach to solving community problems. The Foundation encourages proposals with cooperation and partnering among charitable organizations.

Grants are usually awarded for accomplishing a definite purpose within a specified time period – normally not more than one year.
Essential Funding Criteria:
- Each applicant must be a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit community-based organization.
- Nonprofit agencies must have an active Board of Directors and each application must include information indicating financial viability and capacity to conduct the project to be funded.
- The organization must be located in Ventura County or the program must serve Ventura County residents in accordance with the purpose of Swift Memorial Health Care Foundation by providing health care services to Ventura County residents.
Although Donor Advised Funds may recommend grants anywhere in the world, the VCCF Competitive Grants Program makes grants only to nonprofit organizations that serve Ventura County.
Funds will not be granted for organizational deficits, annual fund drives, general operating expenses, political or partisan purposes, religious or sectarian activities, endowments, research or non-project related expenses. The Foundation does not consider individuals for funding.
Swift Memorial Health Care Foundation prefers not to fund recurrent salaried positions.
The Swift Memorial Health Care Foundation has two grant cycles; the Foundation accepts and processes applications twice a year. The application deadlines are October 15 and April 15 each year. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline and sent to the VCCF office. All grant requests must be submitted on the Foundation’s standard application form.
No organization may receive more than one grant in any 12-month period.
