Grants of up to $15,000 to Michigan nonprofits, government agencies, and faith-based organizations to benefit Saginaw County and the broader Great Lakes Bay Region. Applicants must contact program staff before applying. Projects may involve STEM education, volunteerism, and community service, and environmental conservation.

Nonprofit organizations may apply for a grant for projects or programs that fit the following criteria:

1) Projects that increase access for those who currently have little or no access to STEM educational opportunities will receive priority consideration. This lack of access may be a matter of economics, gender, racial bias or other factors.

2) Volunteer involvement is important. Projects that leverage what local citizens are doing or could do to improve the local quality of life will receive priority consideration. Projects must be sustainable, with plans in place to continue beyond the funding period, and should demonstrate a positive impact on a broad segment of the community. Multiple funders should be contributing to the project.

3) As part of our commitment to a sustainable future, the Dow Corning Donor Advised Funds provide grant support to programs designed to conserve natural resources and reduce the negative impact of our lifestyles on the environment through the use of innovative technologies.

Single-County Projects: Up to $5,000
Regional Projects: Up to $15,000

Grants are typically made for one year.

The Foundation awards grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, local units of government and religious institutions.

Eligible applicants include nonprofits, as well as individuals, community groups, neighborhoods, businesses and youth groups if SCF or another nonprofit is used as a fiscal agent.

Restrictions:

-Grants usually do not support operating budgets, basic municipal services, basic educational functions, endowment campaigns, previously incurred debt and sectarian religious programs.

-Low priority is given to requests for travel for groups such as school classes, clubs or sports teams.

-The Foundation does not give grants to individuals, including requests for utility payments and food.

-Projects normally funded by government taxation will not be considered, nor will those that specifically support individuals, veterans, political groups, religious groups for sectarian purposes, conferences, group travel costs, fundraising events, dinners, public advertisements, scholarships or research grants.
