Grants to nonprofits in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia for programs in the areas of financial literacy and economic development, education and helping youth, arts and culture, environmental sustainability, and health and human services in communities where the funding source does business.

Funding is targeted to strengthen these vital signs of a strong community:
- Promoting excellence and enrichment in the arts
- Educating, developing the next generation of leaders
- A more sustainable tomorrow, future
- Investing in the financial future
- Improving the well-being of local communities

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Funding is available to nonprofit organizations in the communities served by First Tennessee Foundation.

Eligible regions are as follows:

West Tennessee - Memphis/Shelby County, Jackson
Middle Tennessee - Columbia, Cookeville, Franklin, Gallatin, Lebanon, Murfreesboro and Nashville
Northeast Tennessee - Bristol, Greenville, Johnson City and Kingsport
Southeast Tennessee - Chattanooga and Cleveland
East Tennessee - Morristown, Dandridge, Knoxville, Maryville and Sevierville
Mid-Atlantic - Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Greeneville and Raleigh, North Carolina; Charleston, South Carolina; Richmond, Virginia; Jacksonville, Florida.

Not Funded:
-Individuals
-Trips and Tours
-Bank clearinghouse organizations
-Charities sponsored solely by a single civic organization
-Charities that redistribute funds to other charitable organizations, except in the case of recognized united fund-type organizations
-Religious, veteran, social or fraternal organizations
-Political organizations or those having the primary purpose of influencing legislation or promoting a particular ideological point of view
-Operating budget deficits

Pre-Application Information:

The application process opens on October 1 to be awarded the following year. The deadline to submit a grant request for 2018 is Dec. 1, 2017.

Final decisions are communicated by the end of March for the year the request is granted. All applications are carefully reviewed by staff and select applications are then reviewed annually by leaders who work in the region where the grant is received.
