Grants to South Carolina nonprofit organizations that serve those living and working in Hilton Head Island, Daufuskie Island, or the Greater Bluffton area. Grant Information Sessions will take place on October 13, December 8, and February 9. Grants generally fall into one of these categories:

- Arts and Culture
- Community Development
- Education
- Environment
- Health
- Human Services
- Religious Organizations
- Scholarships

Within the above focus areas, applicants may submit an application under one of the following two funding streams:

1. Community Impact Grants: Funding is designed to stimulate and help launch new programs and projects; or to help focus, enhance, and/or expand an organization’s existing programs and services.

2. Community Investment Grants: Funding is designed as an investment in a large capital project which is a critical enhancement to the mission of the nonprofit organization.

To be eligible applicants must:
- Be a nonprofit organization with a tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code, and are not classified as a private foundation.
- Serve the people who live and/or work in the Hilton Head Island, Daufuskie Island or greater Bluffton area.
- Attend a Grants Information Session at the Community Foundation (within 12 months of the application due date).
- Complete and submit a profile on The Giving Marketplace
- Be invited to submit an application.

The following is generally not funded:
- Sectarian or religious activities
- Political activities or organizations
- Grants directly to individuals
- Endowments
- Annual fundraising campaigns
- Special events or fundraisers
- Scholarships for students in grades K-12

Please Note: Applications must be for a new plan/project/expansion for consideration. Community Foundation of the Lowcountry does not fund operations or any previous commitments (debt, contractually obligated dollars, etc.)

Grant Information Sessions:

Attendance at one of the Grants Information Session is a required element within one year of applying for a grant.

The sessions provide a more in-depth look at the criteria and grantmaking process, as well as funding exclusions.

Grants Information Sessions are scheduled approximately every two months. Upcoming sessions are:

Thursday, October 13th, 1:30-3:30 PM.
Thursday, December 8th, 1:30-3:30 PM.
Thursday, February 9th, 1:30-3:30 PM.

Both sessions will be held at the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry's Boardroom on Hilton Head Island. For more information, or to register, call 843.681.9100.
