Grants to North Carolina nonprofit organizations and governmental entities in eligible counties for programs that improve the quality of life for local women and girls. Applicants must submit a letter of intent prior to applying. Funding is intended to support programs that inspire hope and possibility, empower women to take action, and strengthen Western North Carolina. Eligible counties include Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey.
Grants may be used for new programs, project expansion, operating expenses for projects and organizations, and direct service or advocacy. WFW considers advocacy programs to be those which promote social change for women and girls at various levels of society - communities, institutions, systems, and policies; it is not direct service to individual clients.
Women for Women invests in programs that:

Women for Women will make grants between $15,000 and $100,000.
- Operating expenses for existing projects (1 or 2-year grants; $50,000 limit total)
- General operating expenses for organizations (1 or 2-year grants; $50,000 limit total)
- Grants may be used over one or two years.
- Funding will be available starting June 2021.
