-Incorporation of natural elements into the space such as raised beds or vertical garden;

-Installation of shade structures;

-Promotion of active learning by installing music walls on fences and outdoor water tables.

Priority will be given to projects that:

-Illustrate high need and are dedicated to improving health equity in low-income neighborhoods (measured in part by the percent of students receiving meal subsidies);

-Demonstrate the capacity to implement active design projects;

-Demonstrate the capacity to maintain active design projects (this includes project ideas that align with existing programming and/or curricula);

-Have established linkages and support from community organizations.

A maximum of $200 of the award can be spent on loose toys (balls, hula hoops, jump ropes, etc.). You may use a portion of the award to hire someone to help with implementing the new enhancements into your space.
