Grants totaling $20,000 to Alabama nonprofits in eligible locations for community benefit programs that involve youth. Funding is intended for impactful programs focused on health, education, and social justice. Operational support will be considered. Eligible applicants are located in the Birmingham metropolitan area.

Applicants must serve children and youth and/or utilize youth volunteers.

In 2021, the focus of support for organizations making a direct impact on inequities around the following:

  1. Education
    • Technological support for distance learners
    • Learning opportunities combating “COVID Slide”
    • Post-secondary prep/College Access
    • Safe learning spaces
  2. Health
    • Access to healthy, clean communities
    • Food insecurity – especially those who normally get meals at
    • Access to mental health services – especially dealing with
      impacts of COVID
  3. Social Justice
    • Access to economic opportunity for all
    • Programs providing relief from domestic violence and effects
      of domestic violence
    • Programs providing relief to economic distress from COVID

Pre-Application Information:

Process and Timeline:
- Complete applications must be received by January 15, 2021.
- YPC will review applications by January 23 and will conduct site visits for organizations under consideration through February 19.
- YPC will make final funding decisions by the end of February.
- YPC will notify grant recipients by March 6, 2021.
- Grantees will be presented with checks on March 18, 2021 at the YPC Check Presentations and Senior Awards Night. All recipients must be present to collect awards.
